Unaccompanied Minor Travel
Policy & Form
At Atomic Travel, we are happy to take your unaccompanied minor on selected, direct routes:
- Christchurch ⇔ Timaru
- Dunedin ⇔ Timaru
- Christchurch ⇔ Greymouth
Atomic Travel wants to ensure that the child is safe and secure throughout the journey. If Atomic Travel has agreed to carry the child, then the policy is “ALL CARE & NO RESPONSIBILITY” for all children traveling between 7 and 12 years old. We require the adult (person 18 years and over) to complete and submit the Unaccompanied Minor Travel Form (“UMTF”). The unaccompanied minor must also be dropped off at the departure location by the person 18 years and over who is stated on the UMTF. This adult is required to wait to ensure the child(s) board the bus. The child(s) is required to be collected at the destination by the person 18 years and over who is stated on the UMTF form. The person is required to be waiting at the designated bus stop in a timely manner, before the bus arrives. The designated person is required to call and speak to a team member at Atomic Travel if they are to be delayed. The Atomic Travel team member reserves the right to take action in the manner they deem acceptable should the designated person not be at the designated pick-up location.
AN UNACCOMPANIED MINOR IS DESCRIBED BY ATOMIC TRAVEL AS A CHILD AGED BETWEEN 7 YEARS OLD AND 12 YEARS OLD. YOU, THE ADULT DROPPING THE CHILD AT THE POINT OF DEPARTURE, ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE UNACCOMPANIED MINOR TRAVEL FORM BELOW
- name(s) of the unaccompanied minor;
- names of adults 18 years and over dropping off and collecting the unaccompanied minor;
- contact details of the adults dropping off and collecting the unaccompanied minor;
- signature of indemnity; and
- please note, no more than two unaccompanied minors from the same family may travel together.
THE FOLLOWING MUST BE READ AND SIGNED BY THE LEGAL GUARDIAN OF THE UNACCOMPANIED CHILD/MINOR
I/We, being the legal guardians of the minor mentioned below, request Atomic Travel to accept them for carriage as passenger(s) on the service specified as an unaccompanied minor. I/we have read and understand the stated unaccompanied minor policy (overleaf). Atomic Travel conditions apply to the carriage of passengers and baggage. I/ we agree to and shall assure to Atomic Travel all the protection and benefits reserved to or conferred upon Atomic Travel by such conditions. I/we indemnify Atomic Travel against all actions, proceedings, claims, demands, costs or expenses incurred either directly or arising out of any non-compliance by the said unaccompanied minor with any of the said conditions. I/we hereby state that the minor is seven years of age or over.
